Background
Mr. Cohen graduated summa cum laude from Williams College and earned his law degree from Yale Law School. He clerked for the Honorable Charles R. Breyer on the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, then served for four years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in San Francisco. Before joining the firm, Mr. Cohen was an associate in the White Collar and Corporate Investigations Practice Group at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. He also spent two years as a business analyst at the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company.
As a member of the Criminal Justice Act panel in the Northern District of California, Mr. Cohen provides court-appointed (CJA) representation to indigent federal defendants in the Bay Area. In addition to his client service, he has coached law students in trial-advocacy competitions and lectures frequently on topics in criminal law and courtroom presentation.
